Ahead of Mother’s Day today, the charity listed the best and worst places to be a mother on the planet, based on an assessment of well-being using indicators including maternal health, under-five mortality and levels of women’s education, income, and political status.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the world’s toughest place to be a mother – and Finland the best.
Australia came in at tenth, which was down from its fourth-spot ranking last year.
