Former minister gets sports board role

skynews 813157Former Queensland Labor treasurer Andrew Fraser has been appointed to the board of the Australian Sports Commission.

Federal sports minister Kate Lundy said Mr Fraser, who lost his state parliamentary seat at the March election, had extensive experience as the former Queensland sports minister and treasurer.

‘He will bring a valuable perspective to the ASC board,’ Senator Lundy said in a statement.

The board position runs for two years.

In 2011/12, the 13 ASC board members were paid a total of $395,000, with eight paid up to $30,000 and five paid between $30,000 and $60,000 each.
