The MoU seeks to lay the basis for bilateral political consultations and exchange of information between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, particularly in the areas of politics, economic development, development aid, commerce, culture, education, science, technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The MoU also seeks to encourage interaction over regional and international issues of common interest to both countries.
Hungary had had fruitful bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1961 with resident missions in each other’s capital.

She disclosed that a reasonable number of Ghanaian students had benefited from Hungarian government scholarships and pursued further studies in Hungary in the areas of Medicine, Engineering and Agriculture, among others.
This, she said, was made possible under a Technical and Scientific Co-operation Agreement between the two countries.
For his part, the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Mr. Zsolt Nemeth, reiterated the fact that very cordial relationships had existed between Ghana and Hungary.
Mr Nemeth disclosed how unique West African countries were to Eastern Europe, adding that the MoU was a special co-operation document, the first of its kind between the two countries and that Ghana stood the chance of gaining more in the afore-mentioned areas of support in Africa.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister thanked Ghana for her co-operation and support in this long-term relationship between the two countries.
