The government of South Africa worked out a medium-term program, the aim of which is to improve the direct standard of living of the population by means of social and economic development. Regarding this matter, Pretoria definitely counts on Hungary’s experience gained during the democratic transition and also in education and professional development. They encourage Hungarian companies, which are known to operate on high technological standard, to appear on the South African market.
The Hungarian negotiators confirmed that our country is ready to share its expertise and emphasized the comparative advantage of our companies operating in the agricultural sector, water management and healthcare.
After this the South African Deputy Secretary of State attended the reception in honour of Feedom Day held in Gundel restaurant. Besides members of diplomatic corps, NGOs engaged in African issues and members of business circles were also represented. The South African Ambassador to Hungary, Takalani Netshitenzhe greeted the guests in Hungarian then called upon the Deputy Secretary of State to address the meeting. Marius Llewellyn Fransman talked about the significance of diplomatic relations and emphasized that the two countries have common values and the Hungarian community living in South Africa is a strong foundation for further developing cooperation between the two countries. He also mentioned that his country leaves nothing undone that can help Africa to become a democratic, racism-free, flourishing continent. Giving his toast, János Hóvári talked about Hungary’s growing interest in Africa’s development and said that our country seriously counts upon expanding the already existing relations with South Africa and the continent. He congratulated the country for its achievements and wished every success with the continuation in the future.
