Mozambique’s public television said an overloaded barge ferrying people from Maputo to Ilha de Moambique (Island of Mozambique), in the northen Nampula province, capsized in rough seas.

The bodies of the two Spanish women are in the capital of Nampula pending arrangements for a Spanish translator for family members.
All the girls who died had lived on the island and attended the Franciscan school run by Catholic nuns.
