Scores of protesters scattered from the centre of Tunis as riot police fired teargas to clear them. Some youths with covered faces threw stones as they fled.
“The youths are still angry. They are calling for a new revolution,” said cafe owner Hassan Ali. “Things are far from returning to normal”.
Tension has risen in the North African country, whose “Jasmine Revolution” inspired uprisings across the Arab world, after a former minister warned of a possible coup by loyalists of the ousted government if Islamists win elections.
