Morocco’s king visits site of attack

Marrakech – Moroccan King Mohammed VI has visited a cafe in the central city of Marrakech that was the target of a deadly bombing earlier this week.

The monarch spent about 10 minutes inspecting the debris at Argana cafe, where at least 16 people – including 14 foreign visitors – were killed when a bomb ripped through the tourist attraction on Thursday.

Mohammed VI is venerated in Morocco, and thousands of people congregated at Djemaa el-Fna, the central square where the cafe is located, in hopes of catching a glimpse of the king.

A big contingent of security forces was deployed at the square before the monarch’s visit Saturday.
