“We have postponed our rally to allow the military operation underway to be satisfactorily completed,” Ble Goude, who heads Gbagbo’s hardline Young Patriots, told AFP.
One of Ble Goude’s aides said the rally was called off also “out of respect for the victims of the clashes,” including members of Gbagbo’s Defence and Security Forces (FDS).
Hundreds of FDS moved into the Abobo district, largely loyal to Ivory Coast’s internationally recognised president Alassane Ouattara, early on Tuesday, with at least two civilians killed in the ensuing clashes.
