Dr. Zsolt Becsey State Secretary of External Economics greeted the guests as the patronage of the conference through a video massage. He said that it is important for Hungary, to give the chance for its SMEs, to do business in Africa, as an opportunity to achieve economical growth.
As a guest of honor, His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed MAKARFI senator, presidential candidate in Nigeria has represented the former Nigerian president, Olesegun Obasanjo, who has made up the idea of the whole conference. The importance of the event was also stressed with the appearance of Joao-Miguel Vahekeni Ambassador of Angola, Aly El-Hefny Ambassador of Egypt, Lounes MAGRAMANE Ambassador of Algeria, Adnene Damergi Ambassador of Tunesia, Dr. Paul Emile Tshinga Ahuka Ambassador of DR Congo for Belgrade, Olga Ramalason Mayor of Madagascar, and many other illustrious guests.
The professional part of the program began after the opening speeches of Sándor Balogh, president of the African-Hungarian Union, and dr. József Steier, chairman of the Scientific Association of Energy Management in Esztergom (ETE).
István Pataki, the former vice president of the Hungarian Energy Office held his presentation about the present energy problems and the relative possibilities in Africa. He also talked about his personal experiences from the years he lived in Nigeria.
An expert of the renewable energy in the African and Indian Ocean territory, Ny Rado Rafalimanana from Madagascar spoke about the adaption of renewable energy considering the protection of the environment.
As the last performer before the break, Dr. Márton Jolánkai, professor of the Szent István University, talked about the reforms of the African agriculture.
After the questions of the audience, and the interviews in the break time, Dr Ferenc Ligetvári, another professor of the Szent István University held his presentation about the water and water use strategy in Africa, a topic, which raised many questions.
As the next performer Richard Lalarison Randrianasolo, consul in Madagascar, presented the investment opportunities in Madagascar. After that, Prof. Dr. Norbert W. Knoll-Dornhoff, Secretary General of the “Wusme” (World Union of Small or Medium Enterprises) introduced the new financial strategy, which came into exist in order to back up the sustainable development of the African agriculture and energy industry.
In his passionate performance Dr. Zoltán Lakner, adjunct professor at the Corvinus University, investigated whether the dream of bioenergy in Africa can ever become a reality.
The event, which presented enormous intellectual potential, raised so many questions, that it could be ended only after 17 pm.
According to the intention of the organizers and the participants, the Africa Summit Budapest’s next occasion will be held after the Mexican climate conference, during the Hungarian EU-presidency, in May 2011.
