Buck said in a message on his Twitter page that Egyptian authorities gave him no explanation for their decision.
But officials at Cairo airport said Buck’s name was on a list of people not allowed into the country for allegedly defaming Egypt’s reputation through articles and pictures published about civil unrest in 2008.
Buck was briefly detained in Egypt in 2008 while covering violent workers’ strikes in the northern industrial city of Mahalla el-Kobra.
