ACP-EU Joint Assembly continues

Luanda – The 18th session of the ACP/EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly that opened Monday in Luanda at a ceremony chaired by Angolan president, José Eduardo dos Santos, has entered its second day on Tuesday, with work commissions.

According to the event’s agenda, workshops are being held on Tuesday to discuss such topics as “Training for better governance”, “Changing the housing conditions in sub-urban”, “Refugees”, “Climate changes” and “Impact of the world financial crisis on the ACP countries”.

On the sidelines of the World Aids Day, the 18th session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly will approve a formal text to underline the need for working together in the fight against aids. 

The event, which gathers about 400 delegates, was preceded by preparation sessions of the commissions on political, economic and social issues, on Sunday, after the experts prepared the documents in previous meetings that started  Wednesday.

The meeting of the ACP-EU will also approve a declaration on climatic changes, which is the main theme of the UN Conference of December 7-18 in Copenhagen, Denmark, with the participation of 192 countries.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday afternoon, the deputy minister of the Angolan National Assembly, João Lourenço, is meeting with his colleagues from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Côte d’Ivory and Congo Brazzaville, Christophe Lutundula Apala, Martthe Amon-Ago and Benjamin Bounkoulou, respectively.
