HAMBURG – FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke has voiced his concern at the accommodation and travel plans so far in place for fans traveling to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

“I am not worried about ticket sales but instead about accommodation for the fans. It is our concern that every fan in the world who has bought a ticket also gets a flight and a room,” Valcke said in an interview Monday with Germany’s Kicker magazine.

“We need enough accommodation for the guests and a high and secure transport capacity.”

The Frenchman added that he sees the World Cup, which takes place in South Africa from June 11 to July 11, as not only a challenge but also an opportunity.

“Everyone will come out as a winner, not only FIFA,” said Valcke. “The country of South Africa will be lifted to a new level and this is a requirement for us.”
