Rwanda’s national team resumed their training camp on Monday morning ahead of their upcoming World Cup/ African Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt.
The squad is under pressure to win their remaining three matches in the final qualifying round in order to be assured of clinching one of the three spots for the continental championship in Angola next year.
Tucak Branko’s under-performing team need to win against Egypt before they can even start thinking of an appearance at next year’s African Nations Cup finals.
The coach has faced criticism in Rwanda in recent times, with the team losing their last five international matches. The latest defeat was a 2-1 loss to Tanzania last week.
The Amavubi Stars last featured in the continental showpiece five years ago, and the
chances of achieving qualification this time around look slim as Rwanda are placed bottom of their group with one point from three qualifiers.
Egypt are beating Zambia to second spot in Group C; both have four points, three behind leaders Algeria.
Only the group winners will qualify for the South African World Cup finals next year, while the top three qualify for the continental games.
