An alllAfrica.com report quoted the Public Relations Officer as saying that the new 200 Pula will be introduced to ease pressure on the current biggest note which is 100 Pula and further adding that this was a cost cutting measure.
In a related development, the country’s Central Bank is also reported to introduce another new banknote 10 Pula on which the portrait of President Ian Khama replaces that of his predecessor Festus Mogae.
Mogae is also said to have replaced that of former president Ketumile Masire when he ascended to the presidency. Chepete explained that the practice is that a new president’s portrait is placed on the P10 note adding that this helps the people of the country to know their president.
