Uganda: Bobby Taking Alem Brazil Match Seriously

Kampala — Cranes coach Bobby Williamson says this weekend’s encounter is more than just a sociable match.

The 1994 Brazilian squad that won the World Cup in United States will not get a stroll in the park when they face Uganda Cranes on Saturday at Mandela National Sports Stadium, Namboole, according to the national team coach.

"We are not going to watch them showcase their skills. Anyone that gets on that pitch will have to compete and play to win," said Williamson after yesterday’s training.

The Alem team, as they are known, include famous names like Emerson Perreira, both 2004 and 1994 World Cup winner and Paulo Sergio who will captain the group. Others are Bebeto, Giovanni, Ze Carlos, and Silvao, Viola, Ricardo Rocha, Rai, Muller, Gilmar, Jorginho, Mauro Silva, and Mazinho.

"People are going to pay to watch them, so its professional for us to give a good account of ourselves because of late, the team doesn’t have too many games to play."
