Latin American Storytellers at Cuban Book Fair

Havana, Cuba –  About 30 writers from Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States will participate in the International Book Fair, Cuba 2013, which begins in this capital on Thursday, February 14.

 

 

Ecuador is the most represented Latin American country, with narrators such as Edna Iturralde, distinguished by her texts dedicated to children and youth, writers Francisco Proaño, Ivan Egüez, and Professor Juan Valdano, nominal member of the Ecuadorian Academy of Language.

Chilean writer Claudia Apablaza, 2012 ALBA Novel prizewinner, and Venezuela’s Hugo Argotti, jury for the International “Pensar a Contracorriente” Prize to be conferred during the event, are among the guests.

Also on the list are U.S. historian Avi Chomsky, his compatriot poet Janet McAdams, and the Italians Carlos Frabetti and Gaetano Longo.

Those who appreciate the so-called “novela negra” (hardboiled detective novel) will have the opportunity to exchange with some of its premier exponents. One of them is the Spanish Juan Madrid, also attending the fair.

Dedicated to Angola, the literary fair will receive a delegation of 123 intellectuals, writers, artists, and contemporary and folk dancers. (PL)

Based in the Morro-Cabaña Park, across Havana Bay, the fair will run until February 24 in Havana.
