Police won’t stand for Vic bikie wars

Victoria Police say they won’t stand for a continuing feud between outlaw motorcycle gangs and neither will the public.

Detective Superintendent Peter De Santo said two shootings over the weekend have put the spotlight on bikie gangs again.

Early on Monday a house in Doveton was sprayed with bullets, with Comancheros and Rebels associate Michael Mantzaris believed to be the target.

Several children were sleeping inside the house at the time.

That attack came after a Hells Angels Nomads chapter clubhouse in Seaford was hit in the early hours of Saturday.

Det Supt De Santo told reporters on Monday that feuds between gangs would become issues of public safety in cases where families were in the vicinity.

‘We’re sending a message that the Victorian Police won’t stand for it, and neither will the community,’ he said.

‘They should sit back and consider their actions and the impact on the community of Victoria.’

Victorian police established Operation Resound in response to escalating tensions between gangs in March.
