Sydney Airport passengers up in March

The number of passengers passing through Sydney Airport rose 3.5 per cent rise in March.

The airport handled 3.15 million travellers during the month, up from 3.04 million a year earlier.

The number of international passengers rose six per cent to 1.03 million, while domestic travellers increased by 2.3 per cent to 2.12 million.

Chief executive Kerrie Mather said international passengers rose as Chinese travellers returned home after the Lunar New Year celebrations.

There was also increased demand for domestic travel.
