Firefighters are being brought in from around Western Australia to help battle a bushfire raging through Perth’s semi-rural northeast over fears approaching winds will increase its intensity.
More than 150 firefighters tackled the blaze near Shady Hills and west of Walyunga National Park in Bullsbrook overnight, saving at least 30 homes using 70 appliances and earth-movers.
There are currently more than 200 firefighters on the scene and they’re having their ranks boosted with firefighters from Geraldton and the south coast.
Water bombers are also on stand-by.
The fire’s burnt around 12-hundred hectares, and while it slowed overnight, strong gusts are expected from 9am (WST).
