France Pledges Aid Money For New Caledonia

The New Caledonian government has released more than US$300,000 in extra funding to help in the aftermath of the bad weather at the beginning of the year.

The money is to be given to the communes of Thio, Canala et Houailou which suffered flooding and destruction more than a week ago when the tropical depression Freda hit much of the territory’s north.

The storm claimed the lives of two young men who ventured into the water despite the bad weather.
