Police and army bomb disposal experts have been called to suburban Perth after a suspected old military explosive was discovered in a delivery of sand.
West Australian police have cordoned off the site in Hazelmere, 20 kilometres east of Perth, after a truck delivered a load of sand which was later found to contain the suspected explosive.
The sand has come from a building site in Alexandra Street in South Perth, which as a precaution was also cordoned off.
The 14 inch explosive is believed to be of Second World War vintage.
