In an ironic twist, a political party opposed to gay marriage lost its internet domain name to a group that supports same-sex marriage.
Family First New Zealand – a political party that recently collected up to 50,000 signatures against marriage equality – forgot to renew their domain name.
Instead, it was snapped up by a pro-Marriage Equality movement.
What does this mean? Put simply when internet users go to www.familyfirst.co.nz, they are redirected to www.marriageequality.co.nz where they are bombarded with pro same-sex marriage material.
New Zealand media estimate the slip-up will cost Family First its reputation and severely hamper its efforts to deter same-sex marriage.
Now isn’t that ironic!
