She was killed at Fawkner, in Melbourne’s north, just after Thursday’s morning peak-hour when a truck heading down the Hume Highway merged onto the Western Ring Road, hitting the car she was driving.
The force of the crash caused the vehicle to catapult into six others.
‘This strikes at your heart, especially as a father of a 21-year-old girl myself,’ Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill said of the tragedy on Thursday.
The truck driver is in custody speaking to police, who are also asking witnesses to the 9.15am (AEST) collision to come forward.
Mr Hill said the state’s roads had now claimed 10 lives in 10 days, and urged drivers to pay attention.
