The department also says it can’t confirm three people have died from flu complications in the past three weeks – including a 38-year-old woman who died in hospital today.
The Courier Mail newspaper reports the mother of four had been in the Prince Charles Hospital’s intensive care unit for more than a month before she died.
Queensland Health says there’s been a dramatic spike in flu notifications in the past 14 weeks with the most significant increase in southern and central areas.
So far this year there have been nearly nine-thousand flu notifications in Queensland with 904 hospital admissions and 96 patients placed in intensive care.
