Hungary welcomes six powers’ nuclear deal with Iran
Hungary welcomes the nuclear deal six major powers recently reached with Iran, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó told reporters in Budapest on Tuesday.
Europe has a vested interest in stability in the Middle East, something inconceivable without balanced cooperation with Iran, the minister said.
Hungary resolutely supported the series of negotiations aimed at enabling Iran to return to the international community, Szijjártó said.
Hungary welcomes Iran’s return and will make every possible effort to intensify economic and cultural ties with that country, he said.
In response to a question, Szijjártó said that lifting the embargo on Iran would enhance Hungary’s energy security.
From the geopolitical point of view, Turkey will become a major hub for the distribution of gas, hopefully for Iranian gas as well, Szijjártó said, adding that Hungary should now focus on promoting the construction of a gas pipeline between Turkey and central Europe as soon as possible.
The minister noted that during his latest visit to Tehran the two sides had identified several prospective fields of cooperation, including water management, engineering services and car industry supplies.
