Mandela gained appreciation in South Africa and all over the world because of his fierce fight against racism. He became a role model for millions because he realized what his whole work of life proved: even despite the mortification and pain, the grim legacy of apartheid regime cannot be eliminated with revenge and bloodshed. A country cannot be recovered by adding tension. Peace, dialogue and building – this is Mandela’s political legacy that stays with us forever. It is up to us how we use it.
