Moroccan perspective on Hungary (Part 3) Debrecen must be visited …

Hungary, Debrecen – At the Town Hall the delegation was welcomed by dr. László Papp, Deputy Mayor who showed them the history of the town: its role in Reformation and its place in the economic, social, cultural and sports life of the country, as well as the development of the past 14 years.

After this he talked about the town’s short-, medium-, and long-term programs. In the life of the town the following are of special importance: besides the already existing economic enterprises the international airport and the development of the new industrial park on a 100-hectare area.

The complex development of the famous “Nagyerdő” (Big Forest) also gets special attention. They are developing the open air stage, will build a new theme park and remodel the lake area. Connected to this is the building of a new stadium and behind this an ice-skating rink.

Naturally the journalists had questions, especially about the new stadium and they were assured that it will significantly contribute to the development of the town and the neighboring settlements and the supporters are very much looking for it too.  On the invitation of Mr Szabolcs Komolay, had lunch in the private room of Hotel Lyceum where they had lunch and a conversation about the cultural life of the town in relaxed atmosphere. The guests were very interested about the flower carnival held every year and said that they would happy to return and see it. The idea of cooperation agreement between the new Football Academy of Debrecen and one of the clubs or the Football Association in Morocco came up.

After this the delegation paid a visit to the international airport of Debrecen where director, Mr. Endre Csukás showed them around. The representative of the Xanga Group talked about the plans of the development of the airport and the industrial park on around it that is on a 100-hectare developed land and has all the service facilities. 60 hectare of the 100 hectare is already functioning; there is 40 more hectares to utilize. The companies here are significant tax-payers, they contribute to the development of the town.

Then the rector of the internationally renowned University of Debrecen, Dr.  István Fábián welcomed the delegation. After a short but high quality film, Dr. István Fábián talked about the life of the university, departments and the possibilities for international students. The journalists were very much interested and asked for detailed information which was given to them by Dr. Beáta Lontay in the International Education Center. Ms. Denissza Blanár, leader of the foreign office of the Univerity Departments took the delegation to the Campus in Kassai Street where the leader responsible for the super PC talked about the common interconnection of Hungarian universities to the European and the World Web.

After the day filled with many professional and cultural programs, the delegation spent the night in Dégenfeld Castle-hotel. And it was still not over!

The next day the delegation travelled to Sárospatak, organized by Turizmus Zrt., where with the help of Mr. Lengyel Zoltán guide they were told about the history of the Castle of Sárospatak and Castle Museum, the most important landlords (Perényi, Dobó, Lórántffy and Rákóczi-families) and their role in the life of the Tokaj region.  The delegation visited the castle and then the museum. The cultural and historical value of the objects exhibited in the museum is priceless, which the members of the delegation appreciated very much. They had lunch in Gusteau Restaurant in Tarcal. They liked the cuisine very much and congratulated on the choice of the menu.
