“In Benguela, we met friends who used to study in Hungary and talks fluent Hungarian until today. We have discovered the region and visited the place where László Magyar has possibly died. Our next challenge is to find his tomb somewhere in the region. We crossed the ‘Kimbunda’ Provinces that were extensively described by Magyar. We also worked in Huambo city, the Old Kiakka (Chiaca today) and Bailundo. Here, we met local leaders, dignitaries called the soba-s. Their court greeted us singing and dancing!”
Although the expedition is filled with challenges, the excitement of the research, the various beautiful landscapes of Angola and the kindness of locals refresh the energy of the crew day after day.
“We receive a lot of love in Angola. We meet friendly, hospitable and kind people wherever we go. The photo-themes are various and easy: good characters, interesting topics, outstanding natural beauties.”- summarized Gergely Lantai-Csont, photographer.
László Magyar was given the nickname Enganna Komo because he was asking a lot of questions in Portuguese. “Como? What?” -that was his regular question. Locals found this very interesting and started to call him ‘Enganna Como’ meaning ‘Sir What’.
