He has emphasized that Hungary intends to play a more prominent role in the Africa-related work of the international organizations. Hungary has proved its intentions during its EU Presidency. Regarding bilateral relations, he has indicated that Hungary plans to increase the role of the continent in its economic diplomacy and asked for the ambassadors’ active participation in this. We would like the Hungarian small and medium enterprises and civil organizations to participate in the African projects of the EU Development Fund. In connection to the “Arab Spring”, he has offered to help with our experiences gained during our democratic transformation.
The African embassy heads have thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the briefing. They emphasized their happiness seeing the strengthened Hungarian interest in their region, and expressed their willingness for a dynamic cooperation. Since Europe and Africa are both experiencing rapid changes and facing new challenges in the globalized world, maintaining and developing mutual relations is especially important. And this meeting has, indeed, served this purpose.
