A New Beginning within Guinean – Hungarian Relations

Guinea, Budapest – The representative of Guinea accredited to Hungary – who coordinates as Chargé d’affairs the operations of the Embassy in the region from Belgrade – has been invited to Budapest by Mr. Sándor Balogh, President of the African-Hungarian Union, for the purpose of negotiating about relations between the two countries. According to Mr. Lamine Touré, major opportunities for cooperation lie within the field of economy, particularly in tourism and the energy industry.

The diplomat recalled the sixties and seventies, when the relation between the two countries had been much closer, and told that the time was right to re-explore these relations. The best means of “getting to know each other better” is culture. The representative said that with the support of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the African-Hungarian Union, a “Guinea-day” would be organized in Budapest, on the 22ndMarch. The event shall bring an excellent occasion for Hungarian and Guinean businessmen and entrepreneurs to explore potential fields of cooperation in the two countries. Besides the Budapest event, the embassy aspires to organize such forums for businessman in Belgrade as well, on which occasions Hungarian participants, visitors are also welcome. In these cases, geographic distance should not be a problem.
