Abdisalan Sheik Hassan had been receiving death threats before he was killed on Sunday. It’s unclear if the threats were related to the shooting.
Hamdi Hassan of Horn Cable TV says the 35-year-old journalist was shot by a man in a Somali government uniform.
Somali government spokesman Abdirahman Omar Osmancondemned the killing and promised there will be a full investigation.
Attacks on journalists are common in war-ravaged Somalia. Two other journalists have been killed this year, and there have been numerous attacks in the northern semiautonomous region of Puntland.
